Louisiana State Officials Get Pay Raise — But Only if Teachers Do, Too

State workers and teachers deserve pay raise, says House of Representatives

The
Louisiana House of Representatives has passed a bill granting a pay raise to
elected state officials. However, this pay raise comes with a caveat: teachers
and other state workers must get a pay raise as well.

Louisiana state
officials have not received a pay raise since 1995, and officials hope that this
will help spur interest by quality individuals to become involved in state
government.

Another part of the
Louisiana state officials pay raise bill includes funding for the
Road Home
program
, but
this item is widely expected to be removed from the bill. Right now, the bill
heads to the Louisiana Senate for consideration.
