New LSU Mascot Could Come from Indiana

Indiana rescue center will likely provide the next live mascot for LSU

Mike the Tiger is a long-standing tradition at LSU, and it is tradition that he be a live mascot for LSU. After the latest Mike the Tiger died a few months ago, LSU officials began the search for a new mascot. Now, one might have been found at an Indiana rescue facility. The Advocate reports on the next possible live mascot for LSU:

Great Cats of Indiana confirmed Monday the nonprofit, large-animal rescue facility intends to send a Bengal tiger to LSU soon.

“Yes, it’s true,” said Rob Craig, Great Cats executive director. “We have talked with LSU, and we anticipate we’re sending a tiger there.”

While PETA protests the use of a live mascot at LSU, officials insist that Mike the Tiger is always treated well.
