LSU Live Mascot Could Come from Indiana Facility
The search for the new Mike the Tiger
When the LSU live mascot Mike the Tiger died earlier this year, the search began for a new mascot. Now it has been confirmed that the new Mike the Tiger is likely to be provided by Great Cats of Indiana, a rescue facility. The Advocate reports on the new Mike the Tiger:
LSU officials confirmed Friday they had selected a 2-year-old, male Bengal tiger that is expected to arrive in August.
But the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine spokeswoman said the tiger would not become Mike VI until after it is transported to LSU in August and undergoes a two-week quarantine process for health and safety precautions.
