After Fistfight, Shots Ring Out at Capitol Pre-College Academy for Boys

East Baton Rouge Parish sees its part of rising school trend

Baton Rouge schools sometimes see trouble, in line with trends across the country. However, a shooting at Capitol Pre-College Academy for Boys in East Baton Rouge Parish is underscoring how teenage violence can now escalate from fistfights to even more dangerous violence, a school trend taking place around the country. Two boys were shot at the Baton Rouge school, following a fight the day before. Some, however, feel that further violence might be prevented if residents of East Baton Rouge Parish work with police, reports The Advocate:

[Kit] Sharper, the brother of Metro Councilman Byron Sharper, whose
district encompasses the area, asked if anyone had called police the
day before, during the fistfight.

When they said no, he said people should work with the police.

“We don’t have to let somebody’s child get shot,” he said.
