Mobility Fund Project Requests Rising
Baton Rouge area loop elegible for Mobility Fund
A few years back, the Louisiana Legislature set up a Mobility Fund, designed to help with major road projects throughout the state. However, the Legislature hasn’t provided any funds for the Mobility Fund as yet. Bobb Jindal, the governor-elect, wants to change that — and add more funds for large roads projects, possibly including the Baton Rouge area loop. The Advocate reports on the efforts at road funding in Louisiana:
The idea would be to devote several hundred million dollars in new
revenue to the fund — money which could then be bonded out in the $6
billion to $7 billion range.
Projects such as the Baton
Rouge area loop and similar megaprojects in other urban areas would be
eligible to receive Mobility Fund money, provided they come up with
matching toll revenue.
