Baton Rouge Teachers Push for Collective Bargaining

Debate stirs the pot in Baton Rouge schools

Baton Rouge teachers are pushing for the ability to have collective bargaining. They staged a rally yesterday in order draw attention to their plight. While some say that collective bargaining would be bad for Baton Rouge schools, others say that it would be beneficial for the schools to give teachers more rights. Police officers and firefighters turned out to support the teachers. The Advocate reports on one view of the situation:

“With this opportunity, I think teachers will no longer feel left out
of the process,” said Williams, who said he was speaking for himself,
not the Mayor’s Office.
