Baton Rouge Residents to See Tax Rebate

Tax rebate to benefit many in Baton Rouge

Yesterday, Congressional leaders and the Bush Administration came to an agreement on a tax rebate plan that will benefit many in Baton Rouge, as well as in other parts of the country. The Advocate reports on the details of the tax rebate economic stimulus plan:

Under the agreement announced by the White House, Boehner and Pelosi,
individual taxpayers would get up to $600 in rebates, working couples
$1,200 and those with children an additional $300 per child. In a key
concession to Democrats, 35 million families who make at least $3,000
but don’t pay taxes would get $300 rebates.

It is important to note that the benefit phases out for individuals making more than $75,000 a year, and couples making more than $120,000.
