Baton Rouge Crime Rate Drops


Crime on Baton Rouge real estate retreats

The Baton Rouge crime rate dropped in 2007, decreasing by 7.8 percent when compared with 2006. Despite the increase in population to the Baton Rouge area, crime has decreased rather dramatically since 2000 (by 25.48 percent). Additionally, the solve rate of Baton Rouge crime remains above average for a city of its size. WAFB 9 reports on the drop in the Baton Rouge crime rate:

Crimes against persons (murder, rape,
robbery, and assault) were down 11.5%, while crimes against property
(burglary, larceny, arson, and motor vehicle theft) were down 7.1%
