Financial Disclosure Bill Moves to Louisiana House Floor


State officials may be required to disclose personal finances

One of the goals of Louisiana’s new governor, Bobby Jindal, is to increase transparency in the state government and fight corruption. As a step toward see this accomplished, he has proposed a financial disclosure bill that would require state officials to disclose personal finances. The Advocate reports on this landmark bill:

Under House Bill 1, legislators, all statewide and most local
government officials as well as judges as well as candidates for those
offices would have to reveal income, debts, liabilities, investments
and other financial information.
