Special session meant to divvy up Louisiana budget surplus

Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal is interested in giving more money back to parents who send that children to private schools. A special session designed to divide up the Louisiana budget surplus will focus on roads and infrastructure, as well as address other issues. The Advocate reports on what Jindal wants to do for Louisiana schools:

However, the governor also is pushing a 50 percent tax deduction for up
to $5,000 in private school tuition parents pay per child. The
deduction would cost the state about $20 million in the first year.
