Hurricane Katrina may be a factor in personal income increases
Louisiana is experiencing a boom in personal income. It has been growing rapidly since Hurricane Katrina. Even though the boom is showing signs of slowing, Louisiana personal income still remains on the rise. The Advocate reports on the areas that are seeing the most growth in personal income:
Personal income boomed in Louisiana’s mining sector (which includes oil

percent gains since 2004, nearly double the growth in any other
