Baton Rouge Advocates for Safe Streets (BRASS) has a mission to make the streets in Baton Rouge safe for pedestrians and bicyclists alike.  The goal of BRASS is to make walking and bicycling in Baton Rouge more attractive to people, creating a healthier lifestyle and allowing people to enjoy the city that they live in.  BRASS is committed to educating Baton Rouge citizens on bicycling and walking in Baton Rouge and the benefits therein.  BRASS began in April 2006 and in the time since has made a tremendous impact on Baton Rouge.  Among other events BRASS has been responsible for organizing the first Mayor’s Family Bike Day, petitioning for bicycling and pedestrian facilities throughout the city, participating in public meetings regarding walking and bicycling in Baton Rouge and taking part in the dedication of the MIssissippi River Levee Multi-use Path.  BRASS has a long list of accomplishments and their efforts have definitely served to improve Baton Rouge and its quality of life.
