Downtown Baton Rouge Gains Cultural Distinction

The Arts & Entertainment area of Baton Rouge has just been designated a Cultural District by the state of Louisiana.  For the Arts & Entertainment District this means that original works of art that are bought there are tax exempt.  This distinction also allows for tax breaks for historic buildings that are being renovated.  The purpose of designating areas as Cultural Districts is to focus on the arts and culture.  Baton Rouge is definitely a city rich in art and culture and this distinction helps to both recognize it and support it.  The designation goes into effect March 1st.
