Louisiana Mayor Points Out Success of Baton Rouge

Over the past several months while the Nation has sunk deeper and deeper into economic decline, reports keep coming in about the success of Baton Rouge.  A few months ago Baton Rouge was named one of the Country’s top 10 recession-proof cities.  A  month ago Baton Rouge was named the 9th hottest market.  Jobs have been increasing instead of decreasing in Baton Rouge and an article on WAFB.com interviewing the mayor reports that January sales tax revenues are up over 5% from a year ago.  Baton Rouge Louisiana is not just holding its own, it appears to be growing and doing quite well.  In the WAFB article East Baton Rouge mayor Kip Holden was quoted as saying “When the official report comes out for the January sales taxes we will show a 5.3% increase over the collections of last year. This is continuing a trend that’s setting Baton Rouge apart from many many cities across this country.”  The article also went on to say that “He (Mayor Holden)says he’s got a line on a company that will bring 75 jobs to Baton Rouge. He says he’s also going to fund a loan company called “Seed Co” that will provide small business loans up to $150,000.”  Baton Rouge is securing its position to succeed, remaining successful in a time where it is hard to be so.
