Baton Rouge LA Making Headlines Again
Baton Rouge has made positive headlines again, proving to be a strong place to ride out the economic storm. The Brookings Institute, a well-respected institution, has compiled a report which assesses 100 major metropolitan areas in the United States. Baton Rouge was ranked as number 8 out of the 100 metropolitan areas that were examined. The study focused on four areas: job growth, gross metro product, the change in unemployment numbers and the change in home values. Home values in Baton Rouge raised by 3.3% in the second quarter of 2009 compared with the second quarter of 2008 and job growth has remained consistent, helped greatly by post-Katrina funding programs which has helped a strong construction industry. Baton Rouge continues to be referred to in a variety of reports as a city that is doing well and continuing to grow and prosper.
