The Baton Rouge arts community is pulling together to help musicians who lost their instruments and equipment in a New Year's day fire

Baton Rouge LA is a community that pulls together.  On New year’s Eve a fire ruined a major music center in Baton Rouge, destroying thousands of dollars worth of musical instruments and damaging the lives of the musicians who created music with the instruments.  The water that was used to douse the flames helped to ruin recording equipment as well.  It all happened on New Years Day at the Acadian Perkins Plaza.

Over 60 musicians in Baton Rouge have been affected by the catastrophe, quite a hit to the local music scene.  As a result a music festival is taking shape to raise funds to replace the instruments and equipment.  The Baton Rouge arts community has pulled together to create From the Flames, a benefit that will have many fine musicians performing to help some of their own.  The event has not been fully scheduled yet but is tentatively planned of the end of March.
