Metropolitan Planning Organizations from both Baton Rouge and New Orleans are contributing funds to the study, as is the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. The rail system has long been a dream for Baton Rouge and New Orleans, and its plans were put on hold during the recession. If the feasibility study comes out shedding positive light on the rail system, service between Baton Rouge and New Orleans could become a reality in the future.
