According to a February press release, "The project will provide a roadmap for community improvement, telling us where we are, how far we’ve come and where we need to go."

Meetings held early spring through the middle of May gave residents a chance to participate and to choose the indicators to be tracked by the Foundation. These measures included issues such as drive-time traffic, art museum visits, dropout rates, miles of walking trails. The Foundation will then use the data to help guide millions of dollars in grants each year.

With a BCS Championship under its belt, the LSU Board of Supervisors is supporting a plan to increase LSU football season ticket prices. Supporters of the plan insist that the local Baton Rouge market can support it, and point that other schools in the SEC conference — including Georgia, Tennessee and Florida — still cost more. Contratulations to the LSU Tigers! LSU has won the BCS Championship, and taken the college football crown. The game was a good one, with the Tigers taking control after initial scores by the Buckeyes. The Tigers kept coming, even getting an interception that resuled in a score.

Baton Rouge teachers are pushing for the ability to have collective bargaining. They staged a rally yesterday in order draw attention to their plight. While some say that collective bargaining would be bad for Baton Rouge schools, others say that it would be beneficial for the schools to give teachers more rights.
